"Cooperation - Peace and Music"

When we were asked to write about peace and music, originally the idea was passed around, "did we have any bands that were particularly appropriate to the subject?” The answer was yes, many - so many in fact we couldn't decide which was more or less relevant to write about. So that got us thinking about how each band/artist related to the topic of peace and the diversity of approaches that all had peace in common.
Music is a creative and expressive form; without these qualities we have either noise or silence. For many artists and bands peace is a place found through ‘doing’ music (writing, performing, recording/producing); it is also a place we want to communicate with others - through reflection upon the experiences we may encounter in our own lives. Peace in this sense has a unifying quality; it is the 'coming together' of people, creativity and processes in order to produce a message which others may enjoy and perhaps relate to.
A recording studio is a creative hub where this can potentially take place. Not all these messages are peaceful, but the process of creating the work requires many qualities which are inherent within the notion of peace. This is the unifying concept we referred to. It seems an appropriate place to start from a perspective which looks to unify the music we work on by writing on the subject of peace. Below are some qualities we found inherent in both peace and music:
Concentration and focus
Organisation of expression
Opportunities and planning
Pleasure and discipline
Equality of personalities
Relaxation and calmness
Attention and articulation
Technology and creativity
Information and communication
Openness and welcoming
Natural and neutral
